So as they set out for the dream date, Isha’s eyes were filled with excitement with a mix of anxiety about what stands ahead. On the other hand, Raj was excited about his surprise for this girl who fills his heart with dreams every time he sees her.


Isha was totally unknown to what lay ahead and had her eyes set on the road so that she can get a hint of where their next destination lies. Before she could comprehend anything, she suddenly realized they were on a way to the outskirts.


“Where are we going exactly”, asked the curious Isha

“Just wait and watch” said Raj with those twinkling eyes

“But I felt we were on the way to the outskirts…aren’t we ?” asked Isha

“Ya we are”, said the smiling Raj

“Oh…..but I feel we shouldn’t go too far off” said the little anxious Isha

“Why? are you scared?” , said Raj teasingly

“Please….nothing like that….but then we wouldn’t be able to spend much time in a place outside the city”, said the defensive Isha

“So you agree you indeed want to spend a lot of time with me ...Don’t u” said Raj flirtatiously

“Shut up”, said Isha embarrassingly

“Okie Okie….you betrayed the beautiful surrounding by fighting with me all the way”, said Raj as he brought the car to a halt.

“So we have reached”, said Isha excitedly as she watched out of the windows with curious eyes.

“Wow”, was all an stunned Isha could utter at that point



She was standing in a valley like place with the most beautiful and mesmerizing view. A place to view the perfect sun rise and sun set. And as she stepped out she saw a beautiful castle kind restaurant. It seemed as if she was in some movies. The view of the moment looked far from real.


She jumped from the car to photograph the moments in her eyes and just get lost in those moments. Her happiness had no bounds. As she stepped out for a view, she noticed something which made her speechless!



“Is it the beech I see down there” she asked Raj

"Off course….what else does it seem like”, said Raj smilingly

“O my God! Are you sure u not joking” said Isha unbelievably

“You can see it yourself sweetheart” said the ever sweet Raj

“You know I love beaches but its little so far off from my place to come here! And I hardly get time! I couldn’t ever think you could bring me to my dream location!” said Isha excitedly overwhelmed with emotions.

“So we finally are similar in some respects! I thought you would like this place and you do” said Raj as he experienced a moment of relief.

“I love it! Can we go to the beach later?” asked Isha with a child like innocence

“Off course that’s where I plan to go….but we need to have something to eat and what a better place then a dream location where you could see heaven’s beauty while you lunch…Right?” said Raj with that smile which was permanent on his face

“That’s true! I never thought you would bring me to such a place! I m speechless” said Isha with the most innocent smile

“So my effort is fruitful! Right?” asked Raj cutely

"Yes off course. This seems like the most romantic place I have been to” said Isha dreamily

“This is suppose to be a romantic date ….isn’t it?” said Raj with a flirtatious smile.

“Shut up” said the blushing Isha

“Just joking girl” said Raj to relax that blushing girl.

“Now before I die of hunger lets bite up some food or how will we spend more time on the beech”, said Raj with a face signifying a hungry him.

“Oh yes and if you compromise on my time on the beach I will kill you” said Isha giving a small punch on his shoulders.

“You have already killed me” said Raj with the expression of a man already bowled over.


Isha couldn’t say much to it but she loved his flirtatious words.


“Let’s go” said Isha finally with a blushing smile


There they moved in to live the dream at the most dreamy location which coincidentally was like THEIR dream.

The beautiful morning and a beautiful companion and with some intelligent conversation is all that seem all so perfect for a certain set of people. That’s the set of people which Raj and Isha exactly resembled in an eternal sense. So the day seemed all perfect and beautiful for them. The Day had already started with some food for thought to make impressions about each other. But then it was still a long way to go for the impressions to find any concreteness in their brains.

As Raj was stumbled over by the thought of them being diagnostically opposite to each other, the clock in the café stuck 10. It was time for them to move with the day.

“So shall we move?” asked Isha waking Raj from his second of slumber.
“Oh! Ya sure….i m so sorry I just got lost”, Said the confused Raj who felt as if he was waking from dream to reality.

So the distance from dreams to realities was covered in a matter of seconds. But then dreams don’t really leave you so easily. Do they?

So with a hope in eyes and dreams in the heart for the coming day, both of them moved on to proceed with the upcoming day- The day which was supposed to have a spectre of dreams and a tinge of reality.

As they left from the diner, Isha sketched out the schedule of things she was supposed to complete before they can plan something for themselves. And Raj willingly smiled as he had chosen to be the chauffeur for the day to get some extra moments with someone who brought that secret smile on his face after long.

So the next stop was the library, where Isha was suppose to return and issue some of the books. Raj waited outside with her bag as she went in to complete the work as fast as she could. Then was a meeting with her boss which had meant an hour of waiting for the poor gentleman called Raj. But he wasn’t the poor gentleman, he was the happy gentleman. After all the throbbing heart always makes people happy!

Those few hours of work went fluently even for the apprehensive Isha. Infact they went really fast and nicely. She loved the gentlemanly treatment bestowed toward her. It was long she was pampered and even a strong and feminist girls like Isha yearns for it once in a while. Infact she loved it to the hilt and that was one reason she never stopped Raj from carrying her stuffs or opening the door or being the Knight. After all, who wouldn’t like to live in fairytales once in a while?

The day was all about smiles and laughter. After all Raj’s humour was making the hectic day seem lighter for Isha and Isha’s smile was making Raj go on and on.
She was all smiles as she carried her work and he accompanied her like someone who was all hers. It’s just that she didn’t know how long this feeling was.

When you have beautiful company with you, one doesn’t know how the hectic day turns into an amazing day. And that was what exactly happened with both of them. Before they knew, the work was finished and it was time to experience their day- the day which was about THEM.

“So, what next?” said Raj with a sigh of relief.
“You say...i have as it is bothered you too much”, said Isha.
“Come on….that isn’t true…I loved it with you” said the smiling Raj.
“Ya ya …..People love to carry bags and walk in the heat and open the doors….wow wow”, said the teasing Isha.
“Ha ha that was funny...what if I say I do love it…..not with all but I do love doing it all with u “, said Raj with the cute seductive smile.

Isha just couldn’t say anything to the irresistible reply and could just give a blushing smile to it.

“Now keep that smile intact and let’s get some lunch….i am really hungry….so get in the car….”said Raj in a cute commanding way.
“Sure…..but where are we going?” asked the curious Isha.
“Well ….that’s a secret” said the mischievous Raj with that teasing smile!

“Good Morning” was Raj’s first word to Isha as he handed the beautiful orchids to Isha


“Good Morning….wow these flowers are just so beautiful”, said Isha taking the flowers from Raj.
“Are they really?” asked Raj with a naughty smile
“Why? You don’t think so”, asked the surprised Isha.
“Well they are but not as beautiful as you”, complimented Raj
“Oh! Thanks” said Isha blushingly


So what’s the plan for the day? Asked Raj

Well I have some work at the library and the department..Will take an hour or so and then I m free for the day” replied Isha

“That great….so lets go…by the way did u have your breakfast” asked Raj with concern
“Well…I….” Said Isha anxiously

“Means you didn’t…I thought so…..even I haven’t….how about catching some food for the brain and then we can proceed” said Raj

“Well ok ….we can go to the diner in the campus”, said Isha

“That’s perfect …so how about getting into the car “said Raj while opening the door of the car for Isha.


There was a secret sense of hopes, admiration and excitement as the car zipped towards their next destination-The Campus Café!


The Campus Café was the round the clock rescue diner for everybody in the university campus. Apart from being open round the clock…..it served some delicious food with a lovely atmosphere. It buzzed with people nearly all the times….thanks to being located in a residential campus where students looked for a cheap and a silent place with a not-so boring menu. And this place was exactly that.

As Raj and Isha entered this place, the surrounding was buzzing with people as always. But this time this place meant something more than just than a food joint for these two. Both of them had their stomach quenching not just with hunger but with a sense of excitement of their first Breakfast date together.

So as they sat together to have the first meal of the day together, there were their sense of apprehension, excitement as well that secret happiness.

So the process of ordering their breakfast was accompanied with the start of interaction between the two yet to be friends’ people. As they say a simple hello is needed to start a conversation, a single topic is needed to start off a discussion. So sitting inside a university arena was enough to spell off a variety of discussion between two strong minded individuals.

So with a meal for the brain stimulating their intellectual capabilities, they started off by talking about interests, hobbies to passions to perspectives on life to lessons of a lifetime. In such a small time, it seemed as if time was too short and talks too many.


Moving on to some less philosophical and real time practical conversations,
Raj asked what was intriguing his mind, “So where do u want to go next professionally”

“Well, I want to pursue a course in the States where I might settle later on…” said Isha calmly

Raj almost sipped off the coffee he was drinking, “Woaah! U mean u want to leave your country forever?” asked Raj shockingly

“Ya! so what?” Asked Isha

“So nothing! But I thought a girl who is so passionate about certain issues would be wanting to do something for her country rather than benefitting someone else’s land”, said Raj inquisitively

“Who says I can’t benefit my country by moving out! If I have money I can help my country from any place I stay doesn’t makes it necessarily to stay here……and in a globalized world ….its not a big deal….i will come visiting often….i don’t need to be based here” , answered Isha puzzled at Raj’s persuasion tactics!

“Ya….but still?” said Raj not knowingly what to say next.

“What still….my country hasn’t been so lucky for me in many things so u may say I m searching for luck elsewhere……and then the arena I m I can’t do much here…I need more expertise from elsewhere…..and to reach the sky I would have to sacrifice that much…I guess that’s fair enough”, explained Isha.

“Ya….” Said a little sad Raj

“Why ….where do u wanna establish yourself…the global trotter doctor?” asked Isha

“Ya, I m a global trotter guy and I have seen the world but still I want to now settle back in my own country….that’s why I m back……and trust me India is the next IN thing” said Raj smilingly

“Ya maybe ….but now I too wanna see the world…..so…u see….” Said Isha confidently

“That’s true” said a little disappointed Raj


This conversation set him thinking how different they were when it comes to directions. One looked extreme west and the other looked extreme east. There didn’t seem any meeting point.

But then you never know….when destiny decides to take the overturn …do you?

It wasn’t long before the day arrived. It was a typical bright morning with the sun shining bright and the birds singing. But for Raj and Isha it was a beautiful morning of dreams and wishes- of some dreamy eyes and unfolding wishes.


The beautiful Morning came with its usual bliss. The sun brought a certain beauty to the morning and the bird chirped to bring music to the ears. The dawn arrived with certain rosy feelings and wishes for two dream eyed people, Raj and Isha. For them the previous night was the longest and this morning was the most awaited. The morning arrived and so came anxieties and apprehensions about the upcoming day.


The day started rather early for an otherwise late riser Raj. Or you could say the night never arrived for him. He had all kind of dreams set for the day and which kept him awake dreaming and he never realized when the morning made its presence felt. And the sun rays falling from the window to his eyes actually irritated him. But the realization of the “DAY” finally coming made him happy and glad. And so the realization made him rush to get ready in a matter of minutes. He decided to go casual with his look unlike the night when he first met her .The casual jeans and t-shirt look was what he preferred for this big date today. So getting ready was all about a minutes and so he rushed up in doing that and rush off to his car to get to the nearest Bouquet shop.


Well flowers were something he loved and he was sure she would love it more. He took a long time to finalizing the bouquet of white orchids he finally bought. After all it has to be a special gift for a special lady on a special day. So after finally picking up the beautiful gift he was all set to reach his destination where he was to meet someone amazing….someone as special as Isha.


For Isha this day was meant so be beautiful and something unexpected. She didn’t know why she said yes, she didn’t know why she was excited, she didn’t what she was looking forward to and she didn’t even know if all this was right or wrong. All she knew was this was happening and she have to be part of it with open feelings and smiles. The morning was giving her goose bumps. She had some work waiting to be finished at the library and the department and there was one guy who would be the escort for her the whole period. She had no idea if this was right or wrong…..all she knew was now she had no options. The anxiety was too much for her to handle and these thoughts were literally killing her now. And before she realized it was almost time for her to be ready or she would be late. And those made her panicky and she rushed to have a shower. She preferred going casual with her looks today with a simple kurta and jeans and a lit bit of make up.

And before she was even contemplating having her breakfast, her phone rang….It was Raj…


“Good Morning”, was his first words

“Good Morning…..Have u reached” asked Isha anxiously

“Ya…but if u need more time I can always wait” said he to her anxious reply

“No need I m almost ready…I will just lock my room and be there”, said Isha

“Okies…Cu then” said the smiling He

“Cya”, said Isha keeping the phone done


And then there was the rush in picking up her purse, cell and the key lock. She rushed to lock and run off to meet him.She had no idea why was she just so excited but she was…..and unknowingly she loved it.


There he was standing outside his hostel gate with those most beautiful orchids.And there she reached with the most beautiful smile.There were these two separate individuals with dreams and a smile glittering on the faces.


The glimpse of each other was enough to make their heart beats faster. And before deciding to do anything, they just rushed to greet each other. Raj handed the orchids which was replaced by the most beautiful smile on Isha’s face and a hug as a return for the gladness.So standing there exchanging glances and smiles ……they awaited the day which was no one’s but just THEIRS.

Isha had gone home and so had Raj but the memories lingered….that brought a smile on their faces. They knew there was something happening inside; all that they had to decipher was its real meaning. Isha was feeling uneasy due to the growth of such a feeling in her as she didn’t wanted it again but Raj was sure he wanted to take one last risk with Love in his life.


Both had gone home with memories and a sleepless night in store. But a Sunday meant an off from work and hence propelling their brains to be lost in thoughts and contemplation of the new feelings they were experiencing.. An otherwise active Raj was lying on his bed with a pensive look whole day. He didn’t know what he had to do next but all he knew was that Isha‘s face was still in front of his eyes. This feeling was amazing and yet hurting …..And that was making Raj much more helpless. Seeing a different Raj, compelled Simi to have a talk with him. She was not just his sister but his friend at most of the times. Both of them shared the most amazing sibling chemistry one could imagine. Simi knew what had happened last night as she was around. She knew there was something different about this episode because Raj had never acted the way he did yesterday. But his attitude since last night made her aware of the seriousness of the situation.


“Bhai, u cannot lie like this whole day and think things will fall in place”, said Simi

“What?” was how Raj could react to her.

“ Come on, Bhai you know what’s wrong and even I know it but u need to straighten up and act rather than acting as some devdas”, said Simi

“I know but I m confused?” was Raj’s reaction as her sister’s task of awakening him .

“Give me a break…for the past many years u might have met girls thousand times better than her and u didn’t give a thought and here u meet this girl and u haven’t rested for 24 hrs and u say you are confused ?”, said Simi at the still reticent Raj

“I mean…I don’t know”, was confused Raj’s reply

“Then know that destiny want u to take one more chance in life….now stop being a lazy bum and pick your cell and call her”, said Simi angry at the love smitten Raj.

“What?” was Raj’s reaction as he didn’t know if calling was appropriate

“Of course…how else could u clear your confusion...u have to meet her and just know if it’s the right one or not”, said Simi aghast at her brother’s stupidity

“But …” said an ever confused Raj

“No ifs and buts just yes….so call her right now…..and I know she must be waiting for it too”, shouted Simi

“Sim …i…”…..said Raj but she didn’t listen to her as she had by that time …dialed Isha’s number on Raj’s cell and put it on his ears.


“Hello” was Raj’s first word

As Isha picked up the phone seeing his number she was all smiles and that smile got transferred to her voice…”HI” with a big smile was what she said

“So how u doing” said an happy Raj

“I m fine u say?”, replied Isha smilingly

“Hope I didn’t disturb u or did I”, asked Raj cautiously.

“Off course not….”said she contemplating how she was just thinking of him only.

“So what else?” was Raj’s way to move forward the conversation.

“Nothing much u say?” was all Isha could say

“Hmm….so u free tomorrow”, said Raj cautiously.

“Ya…I mean no…. y” said Isha startled by Raj’s question

“Well….i was thinking if you free we could like meet up for lunch or something and spend some time knowing each other…Only if u don’t mind?”, said Raj said to pursue his request

“Well….actually…..i don’t know”, was all a confused Isha could say

“You are allowed to say No and I wouldn’t be offended .Trust me”, said Raj to make Isha comfortable with his proposal.

“Nothing of that sort…it just that I have some work in the morning meeting up with few people n all…so don’t know what time I might get free”, said Isha thinking of the works she have to do tomorrow.

“I wouldn’t mind escorting u as long you are comfortable with it….and then u can get a free driver too” said Raj with a naughty smile

“O come on…..i said that as I m unsure of the time when my work will be finished…between how come you have a off tomorrow?” said an inquisitive Isha

“Well …I was working on Saturday so I got a off for Sunday and Monday…anyways u didn’t answered….Can I be your escort for a day?”, said Raj to further press his request.

“Shut up …… are you sure u have that much patience to wait while I get my work done?”

“Sure…u will know how much patience I have in the world when u meet me…..off course if u have problems about being seen with me then I cant say”, said the Teasing Raj.

“Come on……I don’t have such problems …so stop teasing me”, said a blushing Isha.

“Ok as u wish…..so how about escorting you from your hostel at like 10 am tomorrow?” asked Raj.

“Well …sure ….” said a confused Isha

“Ok then will call you in the morning….so be ready” said Raj with a big grin on his face and voice

Sure….see you tomorrow” said a smiling Isha

“Take care…and cu” said Raj before keeping the phone down.

“Take care …bye”, said the ever smiling Isha

“Bye”, said Raj and keep the phone down with big grin on his face and jumped in air thinking of tomorrow.


As the Phone conversation ended…Both of them were lost in thoughts and excitement about the next day. Isha had no idea why she said yes to his request and Raj had no idea why he had asked a girl out who he met just like 2 days ago. Both of them had no answers to why they were meeting again....but then some questions don’t really have answers…they just happen….

The Wedding was full of fun, frolic with loads of social catching up and lip-smacking food. But what is a wedding if some new matches aren’t made. Well that’s what was to happen with Isha and Raj, two diverse yet soon to be made for each other people. Isha was a talkative, smiling and fun loving girl, Raj was also quite similar with a dash of shyness which made him take time to strike a comfortable level with a stranger. But that night and the destiny had decided for him to little more friendly for life to take a U turn. Isha was the center of attraction at the party….not because she looked stunning (obviously she did), but also because of the way she interacted with people around. She was laughing, talking, running about, dancing and doing things which made people around love her and her speck of childishness. So it wasn’t long before she was the noticed by Raj. Who was amazed that such free spirited girls exist? But then the heavens had decided there was something more in store for this beautiful couple and which is why first time in life Raj couldn’t take his eyes off her. He had never been in such situations where his eyes and his heart refuse to hear to the head. He actually was staring at her and he knew it was wrong and yet he couldn’t help himself. He wanted to live his whole life just standing in one corner and looking at her for the entire life. He had no idea as to what was happening to him but it was true something was happening to him…..


And then there was Isha who was all engulfed in catching up with friends, dancing, laughing and just having time of her life. But Raj wasn’t someone who would go unnoticed for long. He was one insanely handsome guy whom one only sees in movies. So obviously Isha’s eyes had roved to see him as well. But then she had come to believe that this world was short of good guys and if they are any they have plenty of miss universes for them and so they would never have time to be interested in a ordinary girl like her. But then if one of them is staring at you for pretty long, you couldn’t help noticing as well feeling awkward. She had no idea how to react after all he seemed so perfect a guy that having him stare at you seemed like a compliment.


But then she had it enough, it was like 30 minutes and his eyes were set on her. He didn’t look like those Goons types so she didn’t have a problem in going and making him know he is making her awkward in the wedding. So finally she was at the cold drink stall where he was standing.



“Excuse me, Don’t You have any other work to do”, was Isha’s first words to Raj.

These words were enough to jerk him and bring him to senses.

“What” was all he could react with!

“Obviously that’s what it seems like. You are at a wedding and you are standing in one corner and staring at me and not doing anything else”,said Isha.

“Well, I have never done something so weird in my life, but I just couldn’t take my eyes off you” was all Raj could say innocently.

This sentence obviously made her blush but it made her skeptical about him so she started going back saying “Whatever …now you better stop staring and stop making me awkward”

He couldn’t let her go like this and so the only way to stop her seemed, “Can I have a minute with u”

“A minute! What?” , was Isha’s reaction

“Ya a minute as in 60 seconds or maybe little more if u don’t mind”, was Raj’s way to explain his request

“Well ….Ya say”, said Isha…..she had no idea why she said yes but she knew something wanted her to be there and talk to him.

“Well how about walks...the starlight night seem more appropriate to talk rather than the noisy wedding area”, said Raj with a spark in his eyes.


Isha was astonished at his request but she had no idea what made her ready……


So there they were outside the wedding hall into the roads of the amazing place which was the most scenic places around. They were talking, laughing and enjoying the great chemistry under the moon lighted sky. Isha had just an hour before she leaves for home and Raj wanted to make that hour into a lifetime. Both of them had no idea what was making them so much comfortable with a stranger they met just an hour ago but all they knew they have never stroked such a chord with any one in their lives. The chemistry was amazing and the planets and destiny was playing its game of bringing them closer. The hour was coming to an end and it was making both of them uneasy…he wanted her to stay for long but he knew she can’t. In an hour they knew everything about each other . But still what remained was the exchange of numbers. Now the time was up and Isha had to go……so here was the moment for Raj to seek a way to move this chemistry forward.

“I hope you wouldn’t mind if I called you sometimes”, said Raj

“I wouldn’t but where would you call me”, said Isha

“Well a number you wouldn’t mind giving me or if u wish you can have my card”, said Raj handling his visiting card.

She smiled and gave her number to him without thinking twice.

It was now time to go she hugged him with a peck on his cheeks. It was a peck but it made their hearts miss a beat and made space for some emotion which comes once in a lifetime.


Then she made way to her car with her eyes on him. There she was going …..And he had no idea when he will meet her again….all he knew was that he was destined to meet her again and again…….

Well Soul Mate is a very weighted word but then its presence makes you equally enlighten. Soul mate was not a weighted but rather a superficial and unreal reality for these two individuals. Soul mates were too big a thing to believe, they even doubted the existence of Love in this universe. But then both Isha and Raj had their own set of experiences to come to such conclusions. Raj didn’t only have a heartbroken past but experiences of betrayal, selfishness and dishonesty which made him find all individuals to be self centered. He has to some sense started to believe he can’t ever find a girl who could be apt for him. That doesn’t mean he never had friends who were girls. He had and loads and he was pro-woman in many senses as a result of being raised in a family with strong woman like his grand mom, mother and his sister. Infact in many senses he wanted to do lot for the womenfolk as a whole like his mom. But then in other senses he didn’t really approved of most women he dated or met. Well u can blame that on his rich background or the enticing looks. In his society most of the girls he encountered were either after his money or his contacts or were the ones whose only aim was to get married and settled in life. He did meet strongly oriented career women too but then they weren’t the ones to date….either they were too old or too geeky. In his life he never found the perfect one- the gorgeous, strong minded women he wanted …after all he was looking for a combination of beauty with brains. But his Life had been such he had stopped believing in the perfect girl who could actually make him believe in love once again.

That is the definition which defined Isha- she was the perfect example of beauty and brains. She was working on social issues related to women making her the feminist to the core. She had the strongest educational background with sky rocketing career aims. She wanted to rule the world and make the world a different place for women then the one it was today. And to top it all….she was pretty in the conventional sense…infact charmingly cute with beautiful eyes, hair and a personality. She wasn’t too tall but then she was bold enough to speak her mind. She came from a family of educationalist. And yet like Raj, she had stopped believing in Love. Well that’s what a failed relationship does to a girl who gives it all to the one who gives none. She had her experiences of hypocrisy, lies, dishonesty and double standards. Infact in many senses she had stopped believing in love showered by friends too. But then she was a girl with great social skills so she did have few people who were her greatest friendship but then she had learnt the art to not be hurt. She had become little more cautious and skeptical of individuals. Infact she believed she had showered all the love she had in her and now all she would look for in life would be adjustments and never love or expectations.
